Know Which Clients You’re Hunting, Use a Hunting Anology

Not every client is the same. The Revenue Cookbook helps you organize your business development around types of clients. The goal is not to chase only one type of client. The goal is to build the right mix of rabbits, deer, and elephants or more so your business can grow with more clarity and control.

Small clients that may be easier to catch, but require more volume to make a meaningful impact.

Deer

Your bread-and-butter clients. These are often your ideal, steady, profitable opportunities.

Data Turns Goals Into Action

The Revenue Cookbook helps you move from gut feeling to measurable planning.

To build a stronger plan, you need to know:

  • What your average sale is worth
  • How many first conversations become qualified opportunities
  • How many opportunities become clients
  • Where your best clients come from
  • Which sales and marketing activities are creating real revenue

When you know your numbers, you can make better decisions about where to spend your time, energy, and budget.

Your CRM Tracks the Pipeline. The Revenue Cookbook Builds the Plan.

A CRM helps your team manage contacts, track opportunities, and see which deals are moving through the sales pipeline. The Revenue Cookbook goes a step further by showing what needs to happen across sales and marketing for your business to reach its annual revenue goal.

Starting with your target, the platform works backward to calculate how many clients you need, what those clients should be worth, and what mix of Mice, Rabbits, Deer, and Elephants will help you get there. It also identifies the number of leads, meetings, proposals, and conversions required to support that goal.

As your team enters actual performance data, The Revenue Cookbook compares results against the plan. This gives leadership a clearer view of whether the business is on track, where activity is falling short, and what adjustments are needed before the gap becomes difficult to close.

Your CRM shows what is happening. The Revenue Cookbook shows whether it is enough.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is The Revenue Cookbook?

The Revenue Cookbook is a sales planning tool that works backward from your revenue goal to tell you exactly what activity it takes to get there. You enter your target revenue, deal sizes, and conversion rates, and it calculates how many contacts, fact-finding meetings, and closing discussions you need — broken down by day, week, and the full revenue period.

  • How does the calculator work?

You set a revenue goal and a time period, then plug in your average deal sizes and your deal mix across three deal types — Rabbits (small), Deer (mid-size), and Elephants (large). Add your stage-by-stage conversion rates and the tool reverse-engineers the numbers: total sales needed, total contacts needed, and a clear daily and weekly activity target to hit your goal.

  • What are Rabbits, Deer, and Elephants?

They're a simple way to size your deals. Rabbits are your smaller, faster-closing deals, Deer are mid-range, and Elephants are your large, high-value deals. Setting a deal mix (which must total 100%) lets the Cookbook reflect how you actually sell, so your activity targets match the real blend of deals in your pipeline.

  • Who is The Revenue Cookbook for?

It's built for salespeople, sales managers, and business owners who want a goal grounded in activity rather than guesswork. If you've ever set a revenue target without knowing how many calls or meetings it actually requires, the Cookbook turns that target into a concrete, daily game plan.

  • Do I need to enter my numbers manually?

Not all of them. Many fields auto-fill — for example, weeks in your revenue period are calculated from your start and end dates (with options to subtract holiday and vacation weeks), and your sales target can populate from your goal and deal sizes. You can always override any auto-filled value and type your own, and results update automatically as you go.

  • Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Revenue Cookbook comes with a 14-day free trial so you can build out your revenue plan and see your full activity breakdown before committing. There's no obligation during the trial period — explore the calculator, run your real numbers, and decide whether it fits your sales process.
